Flooring replacement in Los Angeles

Replacing floors is more than installing new planks. Old carpet, tile or wood has to come out, the subfloor has to be checked and corrected, and the new floor has to meet stairs, doorways and cabinets cleanly. We handle the whole sequence with one quote.

  • Samples brought to your home
  • Every room measured at the visit
  • Materials and installation in one written quote
  • Professional installation

Many projects are whole-house: one continuous floor through living areas, halls and bedrooms, with stairs updated to match.

How it works

  1. 1. Free in-home estimate

Samples, measurements and a look at what is under your current floor.

  2. 2. Removal

Carpet, tile, vinyl or old hardwood removed and hauled away.

  3. 3. Subfloor prep

Moisture testing, leveling and repairs so the new floor meets the manufacturer's requirements.

  4. 4. Install new floors

Hardwood, laminate, LVP or SPC installed, with transitions planned room by room.

  5. 5. Stairs and trim

Stairs, baseboards and thresholds finished to match.

Carpet to hardwood

The most common replacement we do. Carpet, pad and tack strip come out, the subfloor is checked for squeaks and flatness, and new hardwood or a wood-look floor goes in. Carpeted stairs are usually converted at the same time. More on carpet-to-hardwood.

Tile to hardwood

Removing tile is louder and dustier than removing carpet, and the thinset or mortar bed underneath has to be ground off or leveled before new flooring goes down. We plan for that in the quote so there are no surprises.

Replacing old or damaged hardwood

Worn hardwood does not always need replacing. If boards are sound and thick enough, refinishing may be enough; if they are damaged, cupped, too thin or the layout no longer works, replacement makes more sense. We tell you which at the estimate. See refinishing and repairs.

What affects flooring replacement cost

Square footage, the floor you choose, what has to be removed (tile and glued-down floors take longer than carpet), how much leveling the subfloor needs, stairs, baseboards and transitions, and furniture moving.

Questions we hear

Can you replace floors in one part of the house at a time?+

Yes. We plan transitions so later phases connect cleanly, and we note the product so you can match it later, subject to availability.

Do I need to move out during flooring replacement?+

Usually not for floating floors. Glue-down hardwood and refinishing may mean staying off certain rooms for a period. We give you the schedule with the quote.

Do you remove and dispose of the old flooring?+

Yes. Removal and haul-away are itemized in the quote.

Can new flooring go over my old floor?+

Sometimes a floating floor can go over a flat, sound hard surface. Carpet always comes out. We check at the estimate.
