How our in-home flooring estimate works
Los Angeles Hardwoods brings the flooring showroom to your home. We bring samples, help you choose, measure every room and give you a written estimate for materials and installation, or materials only.

From first call to installed floor
-
Tell us about the project
Call (323) 498-3735 or send the short form. Tell us your ZIP code, which rooms you are thinking about, what is on the floor now and what you are considering. If you are not sure yet, that is fine. Photos of the rooms or the staircase help us prepare.
-
We bring the samples to your home
There is no showroom trip. We bring samples of the floors you are considering, so you can see them in your own light, next to your cabinets, walls and furniture. We carry hardwood, including engineered hardwood and European white oak, plus laminate, luxury vinyl plank and SPC, carpet and tile. We explain the trade-offs that matter for your household: water, pets, scratches, sound and budget.
-
We measure and look at the whole job
We measure every room and look at what the estimate needs to cover: the flooring that has to come out, the subfloor (moisture and flatness on a concrete slab, condition on a wood subfloor), transitions to other rooms, stairs and baseboards. In a condo, tell us about your association's flooring rules. The appointment takes about an hour.
-
You get a written estimate
The estimate spells out the material, the preparation and the installation, with a schedule. You can choose materials with installation or materials only, and you can ask about installation for flooring you already bought. If you are ready to decide, we can often price the job at the visit. Prices depend on the floor and the home, so we do not publish them; call for pricing.
-
Material is ordered and installation is scheduled
Once you approve the estimate, we order the material and confirm availability for the collection you chose, then schedule the installation. Acclimation, if the manufacturer requires it, is planned into the schedule.
-
Preparation and installation
Old flooring is removed and the subfloor is prepared as described in the estimate, then the floor is installed with a method the manufacturer approves for that product. Stairs, transitions and baseboards are handled as quoted. See floor removal and subfloor preparation and living at home during installation.
Three ways to buy
Materials and installation
One written estimate for the floor, the preparation and the installation. This is how most of our customers buy.
Materials only
Material pricing for the floor you choose, if you already have an installer.
Installation only
Already bought your flooring? Ask about installation for flooring you purchased elsewhere.
Browse the flooring catalog or the brands we offer before the visit, or let us bring a range of options.

Questions about the process
Is the in-home estimate free?+
Yes. There is no charge for the estimate within our Greater Los Angeles service area.
Do you have a showroom I can visit?+
No. We are a mobile flooring business: we bring the samples to your home, so you choose the floor in the rooms where it will be installed.
Can I buy flooring without installation?+
Yes. Ask for materials-only pricing. Most customers buy materials and installation together, but it is your choice.
Will you install flooring I already bought?+
Ask us. Tell us the product and how much you have, and we will let you know.
How long does a flooring installation take?+
It depends on the rooms, the preparation and the floor. You get a schedule with the written estimate.
Which areas do you serve?+
Greater Los Angeles. See the list of service areas, or call with your ZIP code.
