Hardwood flooring and installation in Calabasas

Engineered or solid hardwood?

Both are real wood. Solid hardwood is one piece of wood through its thickness and is nailed to a wood subfloor; it can be sanded and refinished several times. Engineered hardwood is a real-wood top layer bonded to a cross-layered core, which moves less with humidity and can be glued down or floated over concrete slabs as well as installed over plywood.

What we recommend in Calabasas

Calabasas homes are often slab-on-grade downstairs and plywood upstairs. We glue down or float engineered hardwood on the slab and can nail down hardwood upstairs, keeping one look through both levels.

Staircases & stair treads

Curved and open staircases are common here. We fabricate oak treads and risers to match the floor and work around existing iron or glass railings.

Laminate flooring installation in Calabasas

Laminate is used in Calabasas mainly for kids' rooms, offices and rentals where scratch resistance and cost matter.

Laminate has a wood-fiber core under a hard, scratch-resistant surface and usually installs as a floating click floor. Water resistance varies by collection, so we show you each product's rating and warranty terms before you choose.

Luxury vinyl plank installation in Calabasas

Luxury vinyl plank suits kitchens, laundry rooms and pool-side rooms, and homes where pets and wet feet come in from the yard.

Luxury vinyl plank (LVP) and rigid-core SPC have a vinyl core that does not swell from surface water. The installed floor still is not floodproof, and the subfloor has to be flat and dry for the click joints to hold.

How flooring installation works in Calabasas

  1. Removal. We take out carpet, tile, laminate or old wood and haul it away; removal is a separate line in your estimate.
  2. Flatness check. The subfloor is checked against the flooring manufacturer's flatness tolerance. High spots are ground or sanded and low spots filled with a compatible patch or leveler.
  3. Moisture testing. Concrete slabs and wood subfloors are tested with the method the manufacturer requires before anything is installed.
  4. Installation method. Nail-down over plywood, glue-down or floating over concrete, or click-together floating floors for laminate and vinyl, matched to the product's instructions.
  5. Transitions and baseboards. We plan thresholds and reducers between rooms and either reinstall your baseboards or install new MDF baseboards in a choice of profiles.

Gated communities and HOAs are common; we arrange gate access and check association rules before scheduling. More on floor removal and subfloor preparation and our flooring installation service.

Materials only, or materials with installation

Buy your flooring from us and have our team install it, or order materials only for your own contractor. If you have already bought flooring, ask us about installing it.

Stairs are quoted with the floor: hardwood treads and risers, or stair noses for laminate and vinyl when the collection makes a matching part. We confirm what is available for your floor before you order.

Two-story living room with herringbone European oak hardwood floors, porcelain slab fireplace and open loft

A recent project nearby in Westlake Village

We designed and built a whole-home remodel of this waterfront house in Westlake Village, next door to Thousand Oaks. Before, the two-story living room had green wall-to-wall carpet, a brick chimney and a solid loft wall. We pulled the carpet and chose Monarch Plank's Lago Devero European oak to carry through the home. The main floor is laid in herringbone, while the upstairs switches to straight wide plank in the same product, so the two levels share one color and finish but each has its own character.

Can you work inside gated communities?+

Yes. We register with the HOA or security and schedule within permitted work hours.

How long does a whole-home floor take?+

Most whole-home installs take one to two weeks depending on size, demo and stairs. We give you a room-by-room schedule.

Can you remove existing tile?+

Yes. We remove old tile, level the subfloor and install the new floor as one project.

Do you install laminate or vinyl in Calabasas?+

Yes. Waterproof luxury vinyl and laminate are common in kitchens, laundry rooms and kids' areas, alongside hardwood in the main rooms.

Can the same floor run upstairs and downstairs?+

Usually. We use a method suited to each level, glue-down or floating on the slab and nail-down or floating upstairs, so the floor looks the same throughout.
